New Ground Mobile App

The new DroneDeploy Ground App has arrived! Download the new app to experience a whole new level of streamlined capture efficiency.

Why the new app?

With the new mobile app for Ground, you’ll experience:

Best-in-class reliability in the field

Streamlined capture process

Easy project management from mobile with the ability to view all captured standard, 360 and drone photos

Ability to understand progress by comparing current versus previous captures

Updated capture flow

What:

To begin, select the correct level – whether it's the exterior map or interior level. Select your capture method, identify your location using the crosshair, and then tap the capture button to take a standard or 360 photo or to begin your 360 Walk. After completing your capture session, sync your photos by tapping the sync button for a reliable upload experience.

How it's different:

Instead of jumping directly into capture mode after selecting a project, the new app allows you to first select the correct level. To streamline your capture, you’ll then identify your location using the crosshair, then tap the capture button. The pin is placed underneath the crosshair at the same time the photo is captured.

Media viewing (internal & external)

What:

When first opening a level, you will automatically enter “explore” mode. Here, you can click on a pin or node to view all captured standard, 360, and Walkthrough images in full screen, including your drone images.

How it's different:

The current Walkthrough app does not allow you to view any images that have been captured on your project - this is enhanced functionality.

Compare

What:

Select two images taken in similar proximity and compare them side-by-side in order to understand progress over time.

How it's different:

With the ability to view your captured images in the new app, you now have the ability to compare two progress photos.

X-Ray

What:

With X-Ray mode, you can overlay a previously captured photo on top of your camera’s live feed to compare what's in front of you now with a past capture. This enables you to see what’s behind a wall, above a ceiling, or in a slab.

How it's different:

With the ability to view your captures, you can now utilize X-Ray mode, which overlays a previously captured photo on top of your camera’s live feed to compare what’s in front of you now vs. in a previous capture.

Media groups - automatic progressing

What:

Media groups automatically group media, regardless of capture type, within a specific radius. Click on that pin, and you'll see all media captured in that location over time.

How it's different:

No more overlapping pins! Historically, the mobile app represented each capture as a single pin, which created overlapping pins that were difficult to click.
