Stocking stuffer #1:
DroneDeploy Project Name is Now The Title of the Browser Tab
If you are like a lot of us, you bookmark your direct links to different DroneDeploy projects. By mid morning, you have a Christmas stockings worth of browser tabs open - including multiple DroneDeploy project tabs. How do you know what tab to click on? We are happy to report that each unique project name is now the name shown in the browser tab! Open as many DroneDeploy projects as you want and you can always see what tab to open.
Stocking stuffer #2:
Geometry Copying
Easily duplicate your flight plans by copying geometry between Photo Report plans and Video plans—and vice versa! This new feature simplifies media capture setup, ensuring consistency and saving time. Now available to all pilots on desktop, as well as the latest versions of the iOS and M3E apps, this update is designed to enhance your efficiency.
This feature is live and available to all DroneDeploy subscribers.
Stocking stuffer #3:
Beta - Oblique Captures on Intro/Outro Legs
To improve map accuracy, you can now capture oblique images on the intro and outro legs of a map plan. This will capture additional images on the flight path to the starting waypoint, as well as the outro/RTH leg.
Stocking stuffer #4:
Beta - Flight Plan Geometry Locking
We're excited to announce Flight Plan Geometry Locking! This new feature prevents accidental edits to the geometry of flight plans, helping teams maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Geometry locking only applies to the shape of flight plans (not altitude or other settings)
- Other users can unlock a flight plan to make edits if needed
- Not applicable to pano flight plans
We are currently beta testing both of these features on desktop, as well as the latest versions of the iOS and M3E apps. If you are interested in helping us test, please contact your CSM.
Stocking stuffer #5:
Point Cloud Exports Made Smarter
The 2D map crop tool now applies to point cloud exports, making it easier to generate precise, tailored data. This update saves time and ensures your exports are clean and efficient for downstream workflows.
This feature is live and available to all DroneDeploy subscribers.
Stocking stuffer #6:
Overlay Cropping for Large Maps
Exceptionally large overlays are now automatically cropped to map bounds for reliability, resolving issues with large overlays failing to render during export.
This feature is live and available to all DroneDeploy subscribers.
Stocking stuffer #7:
Export Georeferenced and Textured 3D Models
For the first time, DroneDeploy offers the ability to export georeferenced and textured .obj meshes. Perfect for importing into other analysis and visualization tools, this new feature increases compatibility with your existing workflows.
Stocking stuffer #8:
Seamlessly Integrate LiveMap Tiles into ESRI
LiveMap tiles are now accessible within your ESRI instance via the WFS API integration. This update provides real-time map access directly in your GIS workflows for better collaboration and faster decision-making.
This feature is live and available for all DroneDeploy subscribers with the ESRI add-on.
